“With the greatest depth of gratitude, after five and a half years of an incredible career at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), I write to resign from my position as the Commissioner-General of the Authority, with immediate effect,” she stated.

Appointed Commissioner-General on March 24, 2024, by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Madam Essiam served in the role for less than a year. Before her elevation to the top position, she led the GRA’s Support Services Division.

In her resignation letter, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and highlighted the Authority’s achievements under her leadership, particularly its revenue performance for the 2024 fiscal year.

Anthony Sarpong’s appointment signals a new phase for the GRA as it aims to continue driving revenue mobilisation efforts to support national development. His extensive experience in auditing and finance, gained through his leadership role at KPMG, is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the Authority’s operations.
