Colonel Isaac Amponsah, the aide-de-camp (ADC) to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is reported to be in stable condition after collapsing during the President’s final State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Friday, January 3, 2025.
The incident occurred midway through the address, causing brief alarm among those in attendance. Col. Amponsah was swiftly attended to by medical personnel at the scene before being transported to the 37 Military Hospital for further treatment.
A source close to the Jubilee House confirmed that Col. Amponsah has been discharged and is currently recuperating at home.
Doctors have attributed the collapse to exhaustion and prolonged standing, noting the physically demanding nature of his role. “It was a momentary lapse due to stress, and he is now doing well,” the source added.
Col. Isaac Amponsah has served as President Akufo-Addo’s ADC since the promotion of his predecessor, Bismark Onwona, to major general.
Before his appointment, Col. Amponsah held key positions in the Ghana Armed Forces, including as an instructor at the Military Training Academy and an operative with the Defence Intelligence Unit. His dedication and professionalism have earned him respect among his peers and subordinates alike.
The Office of the President has thanked the medical team for their swift intervention and assured the public that Col. Amponsah’s health is being closely monitored.
