Adenta Building Collapse: 5 Trapped, 4 Rescued As Search Continues

A one-storey residential building comprising ground and first-floor apartments collapsed at Adenta Newsite near Da Yesu Ase Supermarket in Accra during the heavy downpour this evening, trapping five (5) persons beneath the debris.

The five (5) occupants comprise two (2) females and three (3) males, including three (3) children made up of one (1) female child and two (2) male children.

Prior to the arrival of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rescue team from National Headquarters, two (2) injured persons had been rescued and conveyed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Fire Service rescuers have since successfully rescued two (2) additional injured occupants. All four (4) rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention at the 37th Military Hospital. A dog that was trapped was also rescued from the scene a while ago.

Rescue operations remain underway as GNFS personnel continue efforts to locate and rescue the remaining occupant, a woman who is still trapped beneath the debris.

The Ghana National Fire Service acknowledges and commends the swift efforts of community members who assisted in the initial rescue of two (2) trapped occupants, as well as all supporting agencies for their timely collaboration and support at the scene.

Further updates will be provided as the operation progresses.
