Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has assured President John Dramani Mahama and the nation that the team is fully prepared and determined to deliver ahead of their crucial World Cup encounter against Panama.

Responding to a pre-match message from the president, Ayew expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness while acknowledging the difficulty of the challenge ahead.

“On behalf of the technical team, the players and our leaders, I want to assure you that we are ready for the challenge. It’s not going to be easy, but we are ready and we know the stakes are high,” he said.

The captain pledged that the team would give its all to make the country proud, setting a clear target for the opening match.

“I can assure you that we will make Ghana proud and make you proud… starting from today, we go for the three points,” Ayew added.

Ayew’s remarks come shortly after President Mahama delivered a passionate message of support to the team, assuring them of the prayers and backing of Ghanaians at home and abroad.

The president said he felt compelled to personally reach out to the players ahead of the game, emphasising the confidence the nation has in their ability to succeed on the global stage.

He also revealed that Vice President Professor Nana Opoku-Agyemang had been tasked to convey further words of encouragement, highlighting the importance attached to the team’s performance.

President Mahama commended the Black Stars for their steady improvement during preparatory matches and urged them to rise to the expectations of both Ghana and the African continent.

He drew inspiration from the team’s historic 2010 World Cup performance and called on the current squad to emulate that spirit.

The president also stressed the importance of unity within the team, expressing confidence in Ayew’s leadership as captain and the guidance of the technical team.

With kickoff scheduled for 11:00pm, the president noted that Ghanaians across the country would stay awake to support the team, expressing optimism that the Black Stars would emerge victorious.

Ayew’s response has further boosted confidence among supporters, reinforcing belief that the team is focused and ready to deliver in what is expected to be a highly competitive encounter.

The Black Stars face Panama in a match widely seen as pivotal to their chances of progressing in the tournament.
