Nana Akua Afriyie, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, has pledged to continue asserting her claim to victory in the constituency’s parliamentary elections.
Addressing the media at the collation centre in Accra on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, Afriyie expressed confidence in her position and vowed to see the process through to the end, ensuring the accuracy and fairness of the results.
“We have 281 polling stations in Ablekuma North. It was left with 62, and by the grace of God, truth will stand,” she said. “I want to say on record that I will fight till the end because I know I won.”
Afriyie underscored her preparedness by emphasising her thorough documentation of election results.
“I have all my 281 pink sheets scanned. I did it immediately before the gentleman who came and tore everything from the EC,” she explained.
With only three polling stations left to be collated, Afriyie confidently declared her lead in the constituency.
“Gradually we are left with three polling stations. By the grace of God, I am leading comfortably, and that is the fear,” she noted.
Meanwhile, Vincent Obeng, the returning officer for Ablekuma North, has stepped down from the collation process, citing frustrations encountered during the exercise.
Obeng has requested that the Electoral Commission (EC) appoint a replacement to complete the collation of results.
According to Obeng, results from four of the seven remaining polling stations have already been collated, leaving just three outstanding.
