The Minister of Foreign Affairs and MP for North Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has taken to the social media platform X to challenge his critics, dismissing allegations against him as politically motivated fabrications.
In a strongly worded post, Ablakwa accused his opponents of failing to act when they had the opportunity and instead resorting to public smear campaigns.
“They had every opportunity when I appeared before them for vetting, but they chose to run away. They had every opportunity when they were in power for eight years to have me prosecuted, but they failed because there was nothing they could find,” he wrote.
The minister further stated that he remains unshaken by the allegations, emphasising his readiness for another round of vetting if necessary.
“If they want a second round of vetting, I am ready for them. It is not a crime for a member of Parliament to patriotically and diligently seek the protection of public resources and state assets pursuant to our constitutional mandate of oversight,” he added.
Ablakwa reiterated his commitment to President John Mahama’s governance agenda, particularly key reforms at the Foreign Ministry.
“Those on the side of truth and justice can never be intimidated. I shall remain focused on President Mahama’s exciting reset innovations, which we are on the verge of implementing at the Foreign Ministry,” he declared.
His post has since sparked widespread discussion, with supporters praising his stance while critics continue to raise concerns over government transparency and accountability.
