To battle the blaze, eight fire engines were deployed from Industrial Area, Ministries, National Headquarters, Madina, Weija, Anyaa, and Accra City fire stations. They were joined by two private water tankers supplied by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.
Fire crews managed to confine the blaze by 01:51 hrs, brought it under control at 03:03 hrs, and fully extinguished it by 05:21 hrs after extensive overhauling to douse hidden pockets of fire.
The young girl was discovered in one of the heavily affected sections and could not be rescued in time. Her charred remains have been handed over to the police for preservation and investigations.

Several wooden structures and shops were completely destroyed, along with their contents. However, the GNFS reported that swift intervention prevented the fire from spreading to nearby structures, averting an even larger disaster.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, as investigations continue.
The GNFS has urged the public to exercise caution in markets and high-risk areas to help prevent similar tragedies.
