The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested 33 suspects following a series of intelligence-led operations conducted across the region as part of heightened security measures ahead of the festive season.
The early morning swoops, carried out on December 16 and 17, 2025, targeted identified crime-prone areas, including Kasoa Old Market, Awutu Breku, Gomoa Buduata, Senya Breku, and surrounding communities.
According to the Police Command, the operations form part of a broader strategy to prevent crime before, during, and after the Christmas festivities, a period typically marked by increased movement of people and heightened commercial activity.

During the exercise, police retrieved substances suspected to be Indian hemp, quantities of Tramadol, and a toy gun believed to have been used to intimidate victims during criminal activities.

In addition, 45 motorbikes were impounded for further checks, with verification of ownership and documentation currently underway.
The suspects arrested are undergoing screening as investigations continue. Police say individuals found to be culpable will be arraigned before the courts in accordance with the law.
The Central East Regional Police Command used the opportunity to advise residents to remain vigilant throughout the festive period. Members of the public were urged to avoid carrying large sums of money, move in groups at night, wear crash helmets while riding motorbikes, avoid drunk driving, and refrain from walking alone in secluded areas.

The Command also expressed appreciation to traditional authorities, community leaders, and residents for their cooperation, noting that community support remains critical to effective policing. Officers who took part in the operations were commended for their dedication and professionalism.

The police assured the public of their readiness to maintain a safe and crime-free festive season, warning that anyone found engaging in criminal activities will be arrested and dealt with decisively under the law.
