The executive chairman of Zoomlion Ghana Limited and Jospong Group of Companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, has lauded former President John Mahama’s 24-hour work policy as a transformative initiative that can be applied to enhance sanitation efforts across the country.
Speaking at the 2025 Jospong Leadership Conference, held on January 13 at the Pentecost Convention Centre in Gomoa, Central Region, Dr. Siaw expressed his company’s commitment to aligning with the policy. Themed “Transformation through Leadership,” the conference brought together key stakeholders to strategise and share ideas for national development.
“President Mahama’s idea of the 24-hour policy is a very laudable idea,” Dr. Siaw emphasised. “We’re going to rationalise our operations to meet that. So we’re going to work at night and in the morning, ensuring we bring those who have been dumping waste illegally at night to book. We’ll be monitoring them and going after them.”
Dr. Siaw announced that Zoomlion is restructuring its operations to implement a 24-hour shift system.
This, he noted, would not only tackle illegal waste dumping but also boost job creation.
“We just need the assembly to support us. We will run shifts—some workers will take the morning shift, while others handle the afternoon and night. In Dubai and other countries, waste collection is done at night because of traffic and other challenges. We’ve rationalised ourselves and will begin immediately after this strategy session,” he stated.
Dr. Siaw appealed to district assemblies to support the initiative, which he believes will significantly improve sanitation across the country. He noted that such collaboration would be instrumental in making the policy a success.
Over the years, Zoomlion Ghana Limited has established itself as a leader in sustainable waste management and environmental sanitation services.
The company’s commitment to innovation and excellence continues to drive its efforts to create cleaner and healthier environments across Ghana and beyond.
As the 24-hour policy is set to take root in the sanitation sector, Zoomlion’s proactive approach signals a new era for waste management in the country, with promises of enhanced efficiency and economic opportunities.
