Judith Cato Addison, Executive Director of Beyond Burns International, shared distressing details in an emotional video appeal on social media. She recounted receiving a desperate call about the actor’s condition and rushing to the hospital, where she found him in a dire state.
Semevo suffered extensive burns from head to toe, with his face scorched and all his hair lost due to the intensity of the flames.
Additionally, he sustained serious respiratory injuries, making it difficult for him to breathe properly.
“The severity of his injuries is beyond words. His body is burnt in multiple places, and his ability to breathe has been compromised. He is in urgent need of specialised medical care,” Addison revealed.
The cost of Semevo’s treatment is enormous, requiring immediate financial intervention for advanced medical procedures, medications, and potential surgeries. With such urgent medical needs, Beyond Burns International has called on philanthropists, fans, the government, corporate organisations, and all well-meaning Ghanaians to donate and help save his life.
“As a veteran actor who has contributed immensely to our arts and culture, this is the moment for us to rally behind him and show our appreciation for his legacy. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference,” Addison urged.
Donations can be made through MTN MoMo Merchant Number 716049, in the name of Beyond Burns International. Contributors are advised to use “Mawuli” as the reference when making donations.
This is a crucial moment for all who appreciate Ghana’s entertainment industry to come together and support one of its pioneers. Time is of the essence, and every effort counts in ensuring that Mawuli Semevo gets the critical care he urgently needs.
