A devastating accident on the Bolgatanga-Walewale highway has claimed the lives of eight people and left several others with critical injuries.
The fatal collision occurred on Friday, February 28, 2025, in Karimenga, a farming community along the highway. A passenger bus travelling from Kumasi to Bolgatanga crashed into a parked container truck, resulting in an instant loss of life.

Eyewitnesses say the impact was so severe that five passengers were trapped in the wreckage, requiring the intervention of rescuers. Shockingly, three severed legs were found at the scene, deepening the tragedy.
Residents and personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service worked together to save the injured, who were rushed to the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga for treatment.
The accident has left the community in mourning, reigniting calls for stricter road safety measures to prevent similar tragedies.
