Trade Ministry Sets Stage for National Agribusiness Dialogue to Reshape Sector

Ghana’s Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, under the leadership of Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, is preparing to host a high-level National Agribusiness Dialogue—a milestone event aimed at transforming and revitalising the country’s agribusiness sector.

In preparation for the event, the ministry convened a stakeholder planning session at its conference room in Accra, bringing together a cross-section of key players from the agribusiness ecosystem. These included industry experts, private sector actors, financial institutions, policymakers, academics, and development partners.

The dialogue, scheduled for June 2025, is expected to provide a national platform for strategic conversations and the co-creation of a comprehensive National Agribusiness Strategy.

The goal is to reposition agribusiness as a catalyst for economic growth, job creation, and sustainable industrial development in Ghana.

Addressing participants at the planning session, Minister Ofosu-Adjare said the forum would serve as an opportunity to “reset Ghana’s agribusiness sector toward inclusive and sustainable growth.” She commended stakeholders for their commitment and stressed the importance of generating practical and lasting solutions to longstanding challenges in the sector.

“We must use this dialogue to build a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready agribusiness ecosystem. The time for piecemeal reforms is over. We need systemic change,” she said.

The upcoming dialogue is expected to draw wide national interest, as agribusiness remains a critical component of Ghana’s industrialisation and rural development agenda. Organisers hope the event will result in actionable policy frameworks and deepen collaboration between government and the private sector.
