This announcement, which follows an initial list of ten nominees, includes candidates for the Western, Western North, and Central regions.

The latest appointees are:

  • Wilbert Petty Brentum – Western North
  • Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere – Central
  • Joseph Nelson – Western

With this development, the total number of regional ministers-designate now stands at 13, leaving appointments for Bono, Bono East, and Upper West regions pending.

In a phone interview with Kwame Obeng Sarkodie on Hot FM, Nelson reflected on his journey and the responsibility ahead.

“To be called to serve as a minister of state is a higher calling, and I am grateful for such an appointment by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama,” Nelson said.

He highlighted his role as the Western Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), where he worked to secure a significant victory for the party in the region.

“We won 15 out of 17 seats in the region, and His Excellency John Mahama won massively here—it was unprecedented. If, based on that, he feels I have something special to assist his governance, I think it is a great honour, and I truly appreciate it,” he noted.

Joseph Nelson assured Ghanaians of his commitment to his new role, emphasising his dedication to retaining the trust and power given to the NDC by voters.

“I am determined to serve with excellence to ensure we maintain the confidence Ghanaians have placed in us and to secure another victory in the 2028 elections,” he pledged.
