Several people are feared dead after a fatal road crash near the Kasoa tollbooth in the Greater Accra Region on Sunday, October 26.
According to eyewitness accounts, the accident occurred when a Sprinter minibus (registration GW 7455-18) heading toward Kasoa collided with the rear of a Jeep 4×4 (registration GR 7673) that was reportedly reversing on the highway.
The impact caused the fully loaded minibus to somersault multiple times, leaving several passengers dead on the spot and others severely injured.

Emergency responders and bystanders rushed to the scene to assist the victims. However, paramedics faced difficulties transferring one critically injured passenger, as no major health facility was immediately available to receive the patient following initial treatment at the Ngleshie Amanfro Polyclinic.
Eyewitnesses said the struggle to find a referral hospital lasted nearly an hour, underscoring ongoing concerns about emergency healthcare access and preparedness along Ghana’s busy highways.

Police and emergency authorities have yet to release an official statement on the number of casualties or the cause of the accident, but investigations are underway.

The Kasoa tollbooth stretch has become notorious for frequent road accidents, often attributed to reckless driving, poor road discipline, and inadequate enforcement of traffic regulations.
