Minister-Designate for Communications, Digitalisation, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has cautioned mobile network operators (MNOs) that they will face sanctions, including fines, if they fail to meet required service quality standards.
Speaking during his vetting before the Appointments Committee on January 30, George reaffirmed his commitment to holding telecom providers accountable while ensuring Ghanaians receive reliable and efficient mobile network services.
“I will not be a minister who’ll be afraid to impose a fine when MNOs fail to provide the quality of services required, as well as we support them in doing so,” he asserted.
He stressed that while the government would assist operators in upgrading infrastructure, penalties would be enforced for substandard network performance, call drops, slow internet speeds, and poor connectivity.
George further pledged to foster a regulatory environment that promotes innovation and technological advancement, ensuring Ghana remains a leader in Africa’s digital transformation.
