Veteran Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo has passed away at the age of 63.
The revered actor succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Ridge Hospital, where he was receiving treatment after suffering severe burns in a fire accident about a week ago.
His condition was first brought to public attention on February 8, 2025, by Judith Addison of Beyond Burns International, a non-profit organisation dedicated to advocating for and supporting burns survivors. She reported that Semevo was in critical condition following the tragic accident.

Mawuli Semevo was widely respected for his immense contributions to Ghanaian theatre and film, leaving behind a legacy of powerful performances that shaped the country’s creative industry.
His passing is a major loss to the entertainment community, with tributes pouring in from colleagues, fans, and industry stakeholders.
“Rest in perfect peace, Senior Mawuli Semevo,” actor Ken Fiati expressed in a heartfelt tribute on Facebook.
Semevo starred in several notable films, including Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines, and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA.
His impact on Ghanaian cinema and theatre will forever be remembered.
