Presidential Jet Returns After 8 Months in France Following Extensive Mandatory Repairs

Ghana’s presidential jet has finally touched down on home soil after spending eight months undergoing compulsory maintenance and major repairs in France. The confirmation was made public by the Vice-President of IMANI Africa, Bright Simons, who detailed the long repair process in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

According to Mr Simons, the aircraft—which had been away since early 2025—was delivered back into the custody of the Ghana Air Force on Monday, November 10. It had spent the past eight months at the Dassault Falcon Service (DFS) Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) base in Paris Le Bourget (PLB).

He explained that the jet was sent for a mandatory scheduled maintenance programme.
“Whilst at PLB, it underwent a MANDATORY 24-month and 1600-hour technical inspection,” he stated.

However, the routine checks revealed more serious concerns than initially anticipated. Technicians detected severe defects affecting the fuel tank and one of the turbofans — issues that required highly specialised work.

“During this extensive inspection, severe defects, affecting the fuel tank and a turbofan, were discovered, triggering prolonged repairs that could only be done with manufacturer assistance at that specific Dassault facility,” Mr Simons disclosed.

The discovery of these faults, coupled with global supply-chain challenges, resulted in delays in sourcing OEM-certified spare parts needed for the aircraft.

Despite these setbacks, Mr Simons confirmed that the technical team has now successfully completed all required procedures. These included leak tests, engine ground runs, and acceptance flights to ensure the aircraft meets all safety and operational standards.

“All the complex repairs and final tests have been successfully completed,” he noted, assuring the public that the presidential jet has been fully cleared by DFS.

Before its final return to Accra, the aircraft also conducted a brief positioning flight from Marseille to conclude minor logistical processes.

The return of the jet brings closure to widespread public speculation and debate over the aircraft’s prolonged absence. With the Dassault Falcon now back in the country, the Ghana Air Force resumes full custody and operational oversight of the presidential aircraft.
