President Mahama to Finalise Deputy Ministerial Appointments in Coming Days

In a decisive move to complete his ministerial appointments, President John Mahama has announced that he will nominate the final batch of deputy ministers in the coming days. This marks the last step in forming his administration, as he had earlier pledged.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of newly approved ministers at the Jubilee House on Friday, February 7, 2025, President Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to assembling a capable and streamlined government. He highlighted that earlier this week, in close consultation with relevant sector ministers, he nominated 13 deputy ministers whose approvals are currently pending before Parliament.

“I urge Parliament to expedite the vetting process so these nominees can assume office without delay and work in tandem with their respective ministers to execute government policies effectively,” he stated.

The president further revealed that his upcoming nominations would bring the total number of ministers to 60, aligning with his commitment to a lean but effective governance structure.

“In the coming days, I will nominate the last four deputy ministers, bringing the total number of ministers to 60, as I assured the people of Ghana,” he emphasised.

Acknowledging the importance of efficiency in governance, President Mahama noted that reducing the size of government is only one aspect of the equation. He stressed that true efficiency is derived from strategy, creativity, innovation, and hard work.

“An efficient government will not build itself. It requires intentional effort and dedication. I, therefore, expect nothing but the very best from all of you,” he charged the newly sworn-in ministers.
