President John Dramani Mahama has officially sworn in the third batch of ministers of state, bringing the total number of ministers appointed so far to 22.
The ceremony, held at the Jubilee House on Thursday, followed their approval by Parliament after undergoing a rigorous vetting process and extensive deliberations by the Appointments Committee.
The 11 newly sworn-in ministers include Dr. Edward Omane Boamah as Minister of Defence and Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka as Minister of Interior. Others are Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who takes charge of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, and Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, who will oversee the Ministry for Gender, Children, and Social Protection.
Kenneth Gilbert Agyei has been appointed as Minister for Works, Housing, and Water Resources, while Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum takes up the role of Minister of State for Special Initiatives.
Additionally, regional ministers sworn in include John Kwadwo Gyapong for the Oti Region, Ali Adolf John for the Northern Region, and Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo for the Greater Accra Region.
Other appointees are Dr. Frank Amoakohene as Minister for the Ashanti Region, Rita Akosua Awatey as Minister for the Eastern Region, Tia Ibrahim for the North East Region, Akamugri Atanga Donatuu for the Upper East Region, and James Gunu as Minister for the Volta Region.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Mahama reiterated his confidence in the newly appointed ministers and urged them to dedicate themselves to serving the nation with integrity and efficiency. He emphasised the importance of collaboration among ministries to drive national development and improve the lives of Ghanaians.
The president also called on the ministers to remain accountable and responsive to the needs of the public, stressing that their appointments come with great responsibility. The swearing-in of this latest batch signals the continued formation of Mahama’s government as he seeks to implement key policies and governance reforms.
