President John Dramani Mahama on Monday, March 24, swore in the newly appointed members of the Armed Forces Council, tasked with providing policy direction and administrative oversight for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
The council plays a crucial role in ensuring the military’s efficiency, adherence to democratic principles, and accountability to the civilian government.

It also advises the president on national defence matters while overseeing the discipline and welfare of military personnel.
The new council members come from diverse professional backgrounds, bringing extensive experience in governance, security, and public administration.
Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will serve as chairperson of the council. Other members include Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, Daniel Addo, Fuseini Iddrisu, and Nancy Dakwa Ampofo.
