The Ghana Police Service has initiated an intensive manhunt for armed robbers who fatally shot two plainclothes police officers on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Poyamirea, a community near Binduri in the Upper East Region.
According to a statement from the Director of Public Affairs, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the officers were ambushed while travelling on a private motorbike from Bongo to Binduri. The assailants shot the officers and stole their motorbike.
The identities of the deceased officers are currently being withheld as authorities work to inform their families in accordance with customary practices. ACP Ansah-Akrofi expressed the Police Administration’s deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the Regional Commander, and all officers and personnel in the region.

The police have assured the public that every effort is being made to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice. Investigations are ongoing, and the public is urged to remain calm and assist with any information that could aid the ongoing investigation.
