Parliament has officially approved the nominations of Rashid Pelpuo, Kofi Adams, and two other nominees as ministers-designate.
The decision followed a rigorous debate and voting process on the floor of the House, reflecting the legislature’s commitment to thorough scrutiny of executive appointments.
The newly approved ministers and their respective portfolios are:

Rashid Pelpuo: Minister-designate for Labour, Jobs, and Employment. Pelpuo, a seasoned politician and former Member of Parliament for Wa Central, is expected to focus on job creation, improving labour conditions, and tackling unemployment.
Kofi Adams: Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation. Adams, a former National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), brings extensive experience to the role, with a mandate to revitalise the sports sector and promote recreational activities nationwide.
Joseph Nikpe: Minister-designate for Transport. Nikpe is tasked with addressing challenges in the transportation sector, including infrastructure development and improving public transit systems.
Murtala Ibrahim: Minister-designate for Environment, Science, and Technology. Ibrahim will oversee initiatives aimed at environmental conservation, scientific innovation, and technological advancement.
However, the approval process was not without controversy. The Minority Caucus abstained from voting on Sam George, the Minister-Designate for Communication, Technology, and Digital Innovation, although he was also approved by only the majority side of the House.
With these approvals, the ministers-designate are set to take office and implement policies aligned with the administration’s goals, pending their official swearing-in by President John Dramani Mahama.
