Oti Regional Minister Meets Ntrubo Chiefs to Resolve Nkwanta Conflict

The Oti Regional Minister, Hon. John Kwadjo Gyapong, has met with the chiefs and elders of the Ntrubo Traditional Area, led by Nana Okonfredom Tidibo Kowura Odamba II, at Brewaniase.

The meeting, held on February 28, 2025, was part of the minister’s efforts to engage with local communities and address ongoing tensions in the region.

Prior to this engagement, Honourable Gyapong had also met with the Adele, Akyode, and Challa chiefs, as well as the Muslim community at Nkwanta. These meetings were aimed at fostering peace and development in the Oti Region, particularly in Nkwanta South, where recent disputes have raised concerns.

The gathering was attended by Honourable Geoffrey Kini, Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South, alongside security officials, including police and military commanders. Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region.

During the discussions, the Ntrubo chiefs and elders expressed their concerns about the ongoing tensions and sought government intervention to ensure lasting peace.

Honourable Gyapong reaffirmed the government’s dedication to conflict resolution, emphasising the importance of dialogue and cooperation between traditional authorities and state institutions.

The Oti Regional Coordinating Council, under the leadership of Honourable Gyapong, continues to work toward sustainable development and equitable resource distribution in the region.

The minister assured the chiefs and people of Nkwanta that their grievances would be addressed, urging all parties to prioritise peace and unity.

As the engagements continue, stakeholders remain hopeful that a collaborative approach will bring stability to the area and pave the way for socio-economic progress in Nkwanta and beyond.
