President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed that the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative is not a tool for political witch-hunts but a crucial mechanism to combat corruption and promote accountability in public office.
Speaking during a meeting with the Ghana Bar Association on Wednesday, March 26, Mahama stressed that ORAL provides a structured avenue for whistleblowers to report corruption, ensuring that all claims undergo proper scrutiny before any action is taken.
According to Mahama, corruption was one of the top five concerns raised by Ghanaians during the last campaign, making it imperative for his administration to take decisive action.

“One of the issues we are confronted with is corruption and accountability in office. It has become too common for people to misappropriate public funds, and we must act decisively,” he stated.
The ORAL hotline, he revealed, has received over 2,000 reports, some of which turned out to be false alarms, while others were credible enough to be forwarded to the Attorney General for further action.
Mahama dismissed concerns that ORAL was being used to target political opponents, insisting that the initiative is purely focused on restoring integrity in governance.
“It is not an instrument for witch-hunting anybody. It is an instrument for fighting corruption,” he assured.
His remarks reaffirm the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, ensuring that public resources serve the interests of all Ghanaians rather than a privileged few.
