The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced its decision to withdraw from all platforms under the Media General group, including TV3, 3 FM, and Onua FM.
The withdrawal, communicated via a press release on January 26, comes after months of failed attempts to address concerns over biased moderation and unprofessional conduct by Media General hosts and management.
In the statement signed by NPP Communications Director Richard Ahiagbah, the party expressed frustration with the continued unaddressed issues despite repeated engagements with the media house’s production team, hosts, and management.
The NPP stated that the problems of biased moderation and inappropriate behaviour have persisted, with no significant changes made since 2023.
“Though withdrawal is not our preferred course of action, we have been left with no other choice due to the stance of Media General’s management,” Ahiagbah stated.
The NPP also highlighted specific incidents, such as a regular guest on TV3 who reportedly made inflammatory remarks about former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, which went unchallenged by the show’s host.
Additionally, the party criticised the political bias of TV3’s political panels, alleging that the network consistently favours one party over others, thus failing to provide fair and balanced representation.
The NPP has urged Media General to abandon what it calls an activist stance and work towards becoming a more balanced platform that serves the informational needs of all Ghanaians.
