NPP Refers Adwoa Safo to Disciplinary Committee

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has referred former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo to its National Disciplinary Committee following her recent media remarks on the party’s 2024 electoral defeat.

This comes after the party issued a directive cautioning members against public statements that could fuel internal divisions.

In a statement on Thursday, March 20, 2025, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong said Adwoa Safo’s comments defied party orders and undermined efforts to rebuild.

“As she is aware, the directive explicitly states that all party members must cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms,” the statement read.

The NPP also criticised her as a former MP, Deputy Majority Leader, and Minister of State, stating that she should have set a better example by upholding party unity.

“Her failure to do so not only reflects poorly on her but is also in contravention of Article 3(5) of the Party’s constitution, which requires members to promote and defend the good name of the Party,” the statement added.

Citing her breach of party rules, the NPP announced that she had been referred to the National Disciplinary Committee for further action.

This development intensifies tensions within the party, as Adwoa Safo had earlier accused leadership of trying to silence her, asserting that every member has the right to speak freely.
