NPP Denies Meeting with A-Plus, Discredits Alleged Offer

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has swiftly responded to claims made by Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, that the party had officially approached him with an offer to align ahead of the 2028 elections. I

In a statement shared on X, Justin Frimpong Kodua, the General Secretary of the NPP, denied any such meeting or communication.

Kodua’s statement comes in response to A-Plus’s Facebook post where the newly elected Independent Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central revealed that the NPP, led by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, had reached out to him with an intriguing proposal.

According to A-Plus, the NPP had promised not to contest the Gomoa Central seat in the upcoming 2028 election should he choose to align with the party.

He cited the offer as a sign of the NPP’s serious intent to secure his cooperation.

However, Kodua firmly rejected these claims, stating, “The NPP has not met with A-Plus, nor has it authorised anyone to convey any message to him on its behalf.”

A-Plus, in his post, made it clear that despite the NPP’s alleged offer, his personal leanings are toward the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He revealed that the NDC, with which he has long-standing ties, had also invited him for a meeting to discuss potential collaboration.

A-Plus expressed that he was torn between the two parties but emphasised that his final decision would depend on which party offers the best deal for both him and his constituents in Gomoa Central.

“I have friends in both the NPP and NDC, and I genuinely wish to align with the NDC,” A-Plus wrote. “However, I will ultimately side with whoever has my interest at heart and provides the best offer for me and the people of Gomoa Central.”
