No Formula for Appointing Ministers—Says Dr. Osae-Kwapong

There is no set formula for how a president should announce ministerial appointments, Dr. John Osae-Kwapong, a fellow at the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), has stated.

Reacting to criticisms from Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin about President John Mahama’s gradual release of cabinet nominees, Dr. Osae-Kwapong said the President is entitled to unveil his appointees in batches if he chooses.

“If he wants to release the names of the persons he is appointing to his government in batches of two, three, or four, I think it’s the prerogative of the president to do that,” he said during an interview on the AM Show on JoyNews.

Dr. Osae-Kwapong also praised the President’s choices so far, expressing confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the administration’s success.
