My job as director of IT and elections for NDC is done- Omane Boamah tells Appointment Committee

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Defence Minister-designate, has confirmed that his role as the Director of IT and Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has concluded.

He revealed to the Appointments Committee that he had taken up the position specifically for the 2024 general elections and has already informed the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC about his decision to step down.

During his vetting, Dr. Omane Boamah assured the committee of his impartiality, stating that he is committed to serving the nation without bias if approved for the Defence Ministry.

He expressed confidence that his neutrality was inherent and could even extend to roles such as chairing the Electoral Commission.

“I took up the job of director of elections for the NDC purposely for the 2024 elections, and after that, I told them my job was done,” he assured.

He added that discussions had already taken place regarding his successor for the position.

Further addressing concerns, Dr. Omane Boamah spoke on the recruitment process for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), urging Ghanaians to refrain from seeking enlistment if they did not meet the qualifications.

Drawing on his medical and operational knowledge, he emphasized the rigorous nature of GAF training, warning that bypassing recruitment standards could lead to serious consequences, including injury or death during training.

“I will be the first to advise anyone who doesn’t meet the qualifications not to enlist,” he said, reinforcing the importance of adhering to proper procedures to ensure the well-being and operational readiness of the Armed Forces.
