Mahama to Launch ‘Feed Ghana Programme’ on April 12

President John Dramani Mahama is set to officially launch the Feed Ghana Programme (FGP) on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Methodist School Park in Techiman, located in the Bono East Region.

Originally scheduled for April 11, the event was pushed back by a day to accommodate other pressing government commitments.

The announcement was made by Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, John Setor Dumelo, in a social media post on Tuesday, April 8. Dumelo described the FGP as a flagship initiative that will “revolutionise Ghana’s agricultural sector”, enhance food security, and boost national productivity.

“This is not just another policy. It’s a bold step toward transforming the lives of our farmers and securing our food future,” Dumelo noted.

The Feed Ghana Programme is expected to offer comprehensive support to farmers, strengthen food systems, and drive sustainable growth in the agriculture sector. Stakeholders from across the country — including policymakers, development partners, agribusiness investors, and farmer groups — are expected to attend the launch.

The programme forms a critical part of the Mahama-led administration’s broader efforts to tackle food insecurity, reduce import dependency, and unlock the economic potential of Ghana’s agricultural value chain.
