Mahama Nominates Two for MDCE Positions in Ashanti Region
President John Dramani Mahama has nominated two new candidates for Municipal and District Chief Executive (MDCE) roles in the Ashanti Region, pending the approval of their respective local assemblies.
In a statement issued Thursday, July 17, and signed by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, the appointments were described as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen local governance structures.

- Ibrahim Issahaq for Atwima Mponua District Assembly
- Yakubu Issifu for Asante Mampong Municipal Assembly
The statement called on assembly members in both jurisdictions to consider and approve the nominees in accordance with the Local Governance Act.
