Mahama Nominates Gyakye Quayson, Dorcas Toffey, Two Others as Deputy Ministers

President John Dramani Mahama has submitted to Parliament the final list of deputy ministerial nominees for approval.

The nominations, made under Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the 1992 Constitution, were formally communicated to the Speaker of Parliament on Wednesday.

The list features Members of Parliament selected to support key ministries in the government’s efforts to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery across critical sectors. The nominees are

  1. Dorcas Toffey, MP for Jomoro – nominated as Deputy Minister for Transport
  2. James Gyakye Quayson, MP for Assin North—nominated as Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs
  3. Mohammed Adam Sukparu, MP for Sissala West – nominated as Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations
  4. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, MP for Essikado-Ketan – nominated as Deputy Minister for Health

The nominees are expected to appear before the Appointments Committee of Parliament for vetting, after which their appointments will be subject to parliamentary approval. The appointments form part of a broader effort by the Mahama administration to reinforce its ministerial team and strengthen governance outcomes.
