President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled the second batch of regional ministerial appointments aimed at bolstering governance and advancing his administration’s development agenda.
The latest announcement, which follows the initial list of ten nominees, includes candidates for the Western, Western North, and Central regions. With this, the number of regional ministers-designate now stands at 13, leaving appointments for Bono, Bono East, and Upper West regions pending.
New Nominees
The newly nominated ministers-designate are:
- Wilbert Petty Brentum – Western North
- Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere – Central
- Joseph Nelson – Western
Profiles of the Nominees
Wilbert Petty Brentum – Western North
Wilbert Petty Brentum is a seasoned politician, chartered accountant, local government professional, and mining expert with decades of experience.
His career spans technical, managerial, and regulatory roles within the mining industry. He has also been active in grassroots governance, serving as an assembly member in the Juaboso Electoral Area of the Juaboso District.
Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere – Central
An educationist and management expert, Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere brings over 20 years of leadership experience in education, governance, and administration.
As a two-term Member of Parliament for the Gomoa East Constituency, he initiated numerous development projects in the area.
Currently, he serves as the executive director of the Centre for Artisan and Apprentice Development, where he has designed and implemented training programs benefiting over 5,000 artisans and apprentices.
Mr. Okyere holds an MBA in General Management, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and a Diploma in Management Studies from the University of Cape Coast.
Joseph Nelson – Western
Joseph Nelson is a public servant and expert in finance and economic management, with extensive experience in business management in Ghana and the UK.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Management Science from the University of Northampton, UK; an MSc in International Finance and Economic Policy from the University of Glasgow, UK; and an MSc in Microfinance from the University of Cape Coast. Mr. Nelson has previously served as the regional director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
With 13 regions now having ministerial nominees, appointments for Bono, Bono East, and Upper West regions remain outstanding. President Mahama’s administration is expected to announce these appointments soon to complete the regional ministerial team.
