Former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong has withdrawn from the NPP’s ongoing “Thank You” tour, citing security concerns after a violent clash in Kumasi left a supporter stabbed.
The incident occurred at a Bantama event where a Jama group from KNUST’s Unity Hall—hired by Agyapong’s team—was performing.
According to his team, tensions escalated after a generous guest gave money to the group, prompting gun-wielding men allegedly linked to the NPP to confront and rob them.

A brawl ensued, gunshots were fired, and one Jama group member was stabbed. The victim is currently being treated at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Agyapong, who has reported the matter to police, told reporters, “Lives are threatened; I don’t think I can protect my team enough. We want out so Dr Bawumia can do his campaign.”
The police have launched investigations into the incident.
