The Junior Doctors’ Association of Ghana (JDA-GH) has suspended its planned nationwide strike following productive engagements with the Ministry of Health and other key stakeholders.
In a statement dated October 6, the association described the decision as a “gesture of goodwill and in the interest of uninterrupted healthcare delivery.”
“The suspension allows government the opportunity to implement its commitments,” the statement read.

While the suspension is aimed at giving government room to address their concerns, the association cautioned that it will closely monitor progress and will not hesitate to resume industrial action if timelines are not met.
“Should there be delays or failure to honour the agreed timelines, the JDA-GH will have no option but to reinstate industrial action without notice,” the group warned.
The junior doctors reaffirmed their dedication to quality healthcare but stressed that their welfare and dignity remain non-negotiable.
“We remain committed to the health of Ghanaians but stress that the welfare and dignity of junior doctors cannot be compromised,” the statement added.
The association also expressed appreciation to stakeholders, the media, and the general public for their support and understanding during the negotiations.
