The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced a sweeping reshuffle involving 13 senior officials, including Regional Directors, Programme Managers, and Deputy Directors, in a move aimed at enhancing efficiency and coordination within the national health system.
The reassignments, which take effect from May 19, 2025, were officially communicated in a notice signed by the Acting Director-General, Professor Samuel Kaba Akoriyea.
“This reassignment is part of a broader national strategy to strengthen the health system,” Prof. Kaba stated. “You are therefore requested to supervise the proper handing over and release the Managers and Deputy Directors concerned to their new stations by the given date and communicate dates of assumption of duty to this Office.”

The reshuffle is part of a wider effort to ensure a more responsive, efficient, and well-coordinated health delivery structure across the country.
Though the GHS did not list all the names publicly in the initial release, sources indicate that the changes span multiple regions and departments, including key leadership in programme implementation and regional oversight.
Health sector observers have welcomed the move as a proactive measure to rejuvenate leadership, improve service delivery, and align health governance with Ghana’s ongoing Universal Health Coverage agenda.
