Ghana Water Limited Suspends November 2024 Recruitment Following Chief of Staff’s Directive

Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced the suspension of all recruitment made in November 2024, in compliance with a directive from the Chief of Staff ordering the nullification of such appointments.

This decision aligns with an earlier directive mandating all heads of government institutions to annul recruitments made after December 7, 2024.

The directive, aimed at ensuring adherence to good governance practices, requires institutions to submit a detailed report on its implementation by February 17, 2025.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, February 11, GWL clarified that the suspension applies to all recruits appointed in November 2024 who had been posted to various regions but had not yet been added to the payroll as of January 2025.

The management of GWL explained that this suspension is necessary to facilitate a thorough review and audit of the recruitment process, ensuring transparency and compliance with governance standards.

“Further directives will be issued as needed,” the statement concluded, leaving room for potential additional measures as the review progresses.

This development has sparked discussions on recruitment policies within state institutions, with many anticipating further scrutiny of employment procedures across government agencies. As the deadline for compliance nears, institutions will be closely monitored on their adherence to the directive.
