The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Limited has announced a nationwide revenue mobilisation exercise, scheduled to run from Wednesday, January 15, to Friday, January 31, 2025.
The initiative, branded “Operation Keep the Lights On,” aims to recover arrears from all categories of customers while inspecting prepaid meters to ensure their integrity.
In a statement issued on January 13, ECG cautioned customers against engaging in self-reconnection after disconnection, describing it as a criminal offence that will attract legal consequences.
The exercise will involve ECG’s senior management and staff, resulting in reduced staffing levels at regional and district offices to enable full participation in the operation. Despite this, ECG assured customers that essential services will continue to be provided.
The statement also highlighted that under the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission’s LI (2413), ECG has full access to all installations. The company urged customers and the general public to cooperate to facilitate the smooth execution of the exercise.
The initiative is part of ECG’s efforts to enhance revenue collection and ensure reliable electricity supply. The company appeals to customers in arrears to settle their debts promptly and avoid disruptions to their power supply.
Customers are encouraged to contact ECG for clarifications or assistance during the exercise.
