‘Don’t Just Consume The Future; Produce It’ – Grace Ibhakhomu

Chief Executive Officer of Lifecard Investment Company Nigeria and Lifecard Dubai, Pastor Grace Ofure Ibhakhomu, has challenged Africans to move beyond consumption and focus on producing businesses, products, solutions and opportunities capable of shaping the continent’s future.

Speaking on the theme “Who Will Build Africa? Raising a Production Generation”, Pastor Ibhakhomu urged participants at the conference to embrace a mindset of production and become active contributors to Africa’s economic transformation.

She asked participants to consider what they would produce rather than what they would consume or buy.

“What will you produce? I want you to make more commitments. Not something you will consume. Not something you will buy. Something you will produce,” she said.

According to her, Africans must build businesses, develop products, create solutions, generate jobs and make productive investments if the continent is to achieve meaningful economic transformation.

She said entrepreneurs should also position themselves to attract investment by demonstrating that their ideas and businesses can produce results.

“We give you because you have produced the result already. And if I give it to you, I will benefit,” she said.

Pastor Ibhakhomu also encouraged investors to support people and businesses with the potential to create value, while urging entrepreneurs to remain diligent in managing resources entrusted to them.

She shared aspects of her own entrepreneurial journey, including her experience in the real estate sector, where she said she had produced and sold more than 500 houses in Lagos.

According to her, she deliberately prioritised growing her capital before making major personal acquisitions.

“I was still living in the rent. And I didn't care. Because I needed my capital to produce a hundred times before I bought a house,” she said.

She also advised participants to be careful about spending on liabilities at the expense of investments that could generate future value.

Pastor Ibhakhomu said the development of a production-orientated generation requires people to make deliberate choices about how they use their money, skills, relationships and opportunities.

She urged participants to prepare tangible products and ideas for presentation at future editions of the conference.

“By the time we come back here next year, we should have your products in the exhibition. We should have your ideas in the exhibition,” she said.

She said the objective should be to move from talking about ideas to demonstrating what has already been achieved.

“This is my product. This is what I have done with it. I have not started, but I have done this with it,” she said.

Pastor Ibhakhomu maintained that Africa’s future would depend on people who are prepared to take responsibility for creating value rather than simply consuming what others produce.

She therefore encouraged participants to make a commitment to building the future through production, innovation, entrepreneurship and investment.
