Concerned Farmers Association Congratulates Randy Abbey as Acting CEO of COCOBOD

The Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana (CFA) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Randy Abbey on his appointment as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).

In a statement signed by Farmer General Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu, President of the Association, the group welcomed Mr. Abbey to his new role, expressing optimism that his leadership would mark a turning point for the welfare of Ghanaian cocoa farmers.

“We warmly congratulate Mr. Randy Abbey on this significant appointment and are confident that he will work tirelessly to improve the lives of cocoa farmers in Ghana. As key stakeholders in the industry, we stand ready to collaborate with him to address the longstanding challenges facing cocoa farmers,” the statement read.

The Association highlighted several pressing issues that require Mr. Abbey’s immediate attention, including:

  • Ensuring fair pricing for cocoa beans to protect farmers’ incomes.
  • Improving access to quality farming inputs and tools to enhance productivity.
  • Strengthening extension services and farmer training programs to equip farmers with modern agricultural techniques.
  • Boosting farmer livelihoods to secure a sustainable future for cocoa farming.

The CFA underscored the need for sustainable solutions to these challenges, emphasising that the success of the cocoa sector depends heavily on the well-being of farmers.

“We urge Mr. Abbey to prioritize our welfare and work towards creating a brighter future for all cocoa farmers. The challenges we face are not new, but with his leadership, we believe meaningful progress can be made,” the Association added.

The Concerned Farmers Association assured Mr. Abbey of its full support and cooperation, expressing eagerness to work with him to advance the interests of the cocoa sector.
