The 6th edition of the Mentorship and Volunteerism Excellence (MVE) Awards lit up the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT on Saturday, 15th November 2025, as outstanding mentors, volunteers, innovators, and community leaders from across Africa were honoured for their transformational impact.
The prestigious event—organised by Captain Foundation, ICS Africa, StudentPreneurship Africa, and partners—brought together captains of industry, development leaders, young achievers, and global changemakers for an evening of celebration, inspiration, and networking.
Hosted by Emmaline Datey, founder of ICS Africa, the ceremony opened with a vibrant red-carpet session filled with interviews, photo moments, and warm interactions.
Mr Atsu George Geraldo de Lima welcomed guests with a stirring message on the power of mentorship in shaping Africa’s socio-economic trajectory.

Her Excellency Fidelia Graand-Galon, Ambassador Extraordinaire & Plenipotentiary of the Suriname Embassy to Ghana, delivered a thought-provoking keynote emphasising mentorship and volunteerism as critical tools for deepening cross-border collaboration, preserving cultural identity, and accelerating innovation across the continent.
A high-level panel discussion on “The Digital Revolution in Mentorship: Breaking Barriers Across Africa” featured:

- Bekere Amassoma, Oracle Academy Program Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa
- Elizabeth Patterson, Founder, GEIG
- Ibrahim Asante, Founder, SITS & Ag. Deputy CEO, CSIR-TDTC
The panel highlighted how virtual learning, AI-driven tools, and digital platforms are making mentorship more scalable, inclusive, and impactful than ever before.
Dr Charles Buckman, Chairman of the occasion, emphasised the need for Africa to integrate spiritual intelligence with technological advancement to achieve holistic and sustainable development.
The event climaxed with the celebration of individuals and organisations driving mentorship and volunteerism across the continent.

- Inspiring Change Award: Joshua Opoku Agyemang, IoT Network Hub
- Student Volunteer of the Year: Abass Abdul-Haalik – NANUNG Youth Activists
- SDGs4 Mentor Award: Stella Gyimaah Larbi – Out International
- SDGs5 Award: Edwina Gilda Annan – Media Personality
- Climate Change Volunteer Award: Abdul Rashid Wumpini Alhasasan – Ummy Relief Foundation
- National Service Award: Joshua Opoku Agyemang – IoT Network Hub
Honours were also presented to organisations championing girls’ empowerment, child rights, and quality education:
Girls Guide Ghana and Gye-Nyame Kids Foundation.

Guests enjoyed spectacular performances from Otumfuo Owusu Ntiamoah, U.S. Marine Corps Ambassador for Culture and Tourism, and comedian Miller Greg.
In the closing remarks, Mr Atsu George Geraldo de Lima expressed deep gratitude to all partners and reiterated the movement’s mission: to empower one million youth and business startups through accelerated mentorship by 2030.
The night rounded off with a productive networking reception, strengthening partnerships and building bridges for future collaborations.
