BudgIT Ghana, a civic tech organisation committed to fostering transparency and inclusive development, has launched its Simplified 2025 Budget Statement alongside a capacity-building workshop aimed at civil society organisations (CSOs) and media practitioners.
The event, held under the theme “Enhancing Stakeholder Capacity for Inclusive Development”, convened CSOs, development partners, and journalists to deepen their understanding of fiscal governance and empower them with tools to drive public accountability.
Speaking at the launch, Oluseun Onigbinde, Global Director and Co-Founder of the BudgIT Foundation, emphasised that the initiative is designed to equip civic actors and media professionals with practical skills to interpret budgetary documents, monitor public expenditure, and communicate findings in ways that resonate with citizens.

“Our goal is to break down complex fiscal documents and empower stakeholders to use data effectively, demand transparency, and ensure public resources serve the people,” Onigbinde said.
Jennifer Mofat, Country Lead for BudgIT Ghana, highlighted that the workshop seeks to educate participants on how to utilise data collection and visualisation tools to strengthen public engagement and oversight.
“At BudgIT Ghana, we believe that informed citizens are empowered citizens. By simplifying the national budget and public financial data, we make it easier for Ghanaians to understand where their money goes,” Mofat stated.
BudgIT Ghana continues to play a leading role in demystifying government budgets and promoting fiscal accountability by making data accessible, understandable, and actionable for citizens. The Simplified 2025 Budget Statement is expected to serve as a key resource for advocacy groups, journalists, and ordinary citizens in holding government accountable for public spending and policy outcomes.
