The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosome Freho Constituency, Hon. Nana Asafo Adjei-Ayeh, has appealed to the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, to collaborate with local assemblies to develop tourist sites across the country.
Hon. Asafo Adjei-Ayeh believes that investing in tourism infrastructure will generate employment opportunities for Ghanaians, irrespective of their educational qualifications.
Speaking in Parliament during the approval of ministerial nominees, the Bosome Freho MP urged the tourism minister to fulfil her promise to develop major tourist sites and provide support to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to boost the sector.
He highlighted the untapped tourism potential within his constituency, mentioning waterfalls such as Abrewa Waterfalls, Baakoti Waterfalls, Awam Waterfalls, Bobiem Waterfalls, and Amomorso Waterfalls.
According to him, the development of these natural attractions would not only create jobs for his constituents but also attract international tourists, thereby boosting the national economy.
“These sites, if developed, can generate employment for the youth and attract tourists globally, contributing significantly to Ghana’s economic growth,” Hon. Asafo Adjei-Ayeh stated.
He further appealed to the minister to consider his constituency in her plans, emphasising the need for targeted support to enable local assemblies to harness their tourism potential.
Hon. Asafo Adjei-Ayeh’s call aligns with ongoing efforts to promote tourism as a key driver of economic development in Ghana.
