Bawku Tragedy: 13-Year-Old Boy Killed Amid Ongoing Unrest

The town of Bawku has been struck by tragedy yet again, following the brutal killing of a 13-year-old boy named Sherif in the Singnatinga-Possum enclave.

The young victim was tending to livestock near the old cattle market in Bawku when he was ambushed by unknown assailants. Local sources report that Sherif’s neck was violently snapped before his livestock was stolen, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

This latest incident adds to the toll of Bawku’s prolonged conflict, bringing the number of reported deaths since October to 42. While the motive for Sherif’s murder remains unclear, many suspect it is connected to the area’s ongoing territorial and ethnic tensions.

As the community mourns the loss of yet another innocent life, the need for reconciliation and a sustainable resolution to Bawku’s challenges grows ever more urgent.
