Bagbin Lifts Suspension of 4 MPs After Vetting Clash
Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has lifted the suspension of four Members of Parliament (MPs) who were sanctioned following a heated clash during a vetting session on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
The altercation, which erupted between minority and majority MPs, heightened tensions in Parliament and led to concerns over whether the vetting process should continue the next day.
The suspension of the four MPs sparked further controversy, prompting a walkout by the minority MPs, leaving the majority to proceed with the vetting.
Despite the chaos, the process continued, including the questioning of MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who faced scrutiny from minority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin for several hours.
Following a review of the incident, Speaker Bagbin has reinstated the suspended MPs, allowing them to resume their parliamentary duties.
The decision aims to restore order and ensure smooth proceedings in the House.
