The newly appointed Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has expressed gratitude and outlined his vision for Ghana’s economic recovery and growth in a heartfelt message shared on X (formerly Twitter).
Dr. Forson, who was recently approved by Parliament for the role, began by thanking God, President John Dramani Mahama, Parliament, and the people of Ghana for entrusting him with the critical responsibility of managing the nation’s finances.
“I am deeply humbled and grateful to the Almighty God for this opportunity to serve Ghana in the capacity of finance minister. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to H.E. President John Dramani Mahama for entrusting me with this enormous responsibility, to Parliament for their confidence and support, and to the people of Ghana for their trust,” he wrote.
In his address, Dr. Forson pledged to serve with humility, integrity, diligence, and transparency. He outlined key priorities for his tenure, including:
- Reducing inflation
- Stabilising the cedi
- Job creation
- Promoting inclusive growth
- Expanding opportunities for all Ghanaians
Dr. Forson also emphasised the need for partnerships and investments to drive sustainable development, stating, “Let me emphasise that Ghana is open for business. We welcome partnerships and investments that will drive sustainable development and prosperity for all.”
He closed his message with a call for unity, resilience, and hard work, expressing optimism about Ghana’s future. “With unity, resilience, and hard work, I believe we can achieve great things for our beloved country,” he said.
