Ken Kuranchie, legal counsel for Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, has reaffirmed his client’s innocence following the former Public Procurement Authority Board Chairman’s detention by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi is being investigated for financial matters related to his tenure as Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund (GIIF). The probe specifically examines financial approvals made during his time at the institution.
Despite the limited details available, Kuranchie stressed the importance of allowing due process to take its course and expressed full confidence in his client’s innocence.

“Investigations have just begun, so we should wait and see how things unfold. My client is innocent—absolutely innocent of all charges. However, we will allow the government to build its case,” Kuranchie told Citi News’ Samuel Ackom.
The case has sparked widespread public interest, with many calling for transparency in the proceedings. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the investigation.
Further updates will be provided as new developments emerge.
