A serious accident at Gomoa Mprumen Junction on the Winneba-Mankesim Highway has left 25 passengers injured, with 13 in critical condition.
According to Apam District Fire Service Commander, DO2 Anthony Kwesi Rhule, the accident involved a Sprinter Benz bus (GW 8172-22) heading from Accra to Cape Coast and a Nissan pickup (GN 3611-24) travelling in the opposite direction.

The Nissan pickup driver attempted a wrongful U-turn, leading to a direct collision with the speeding Sprinter bus, which was unable to brake in time.
- 13 passengers sustained serious injuries.
- 11 others suffered minor injuries.
- The injured were rushed to Winneba Trauma and Apam St. Luke Catholic Hospitals for treatment.
While no deaths have been recorded, DO2 Anthony Kwesi Rhule warned drivers against:
✅ Reckless overtaking
✅ Overspeeding
✅ Unsafe U-turns
He also urged passengers to hold drivers accountable for reckless behaviour to help prevent future tragedies on the Kasoa-Cape Coast highway.
