During the operation, cables suspected to be part of the missing consignment were discovered at an aluminium smelter owned by the Chinese, situated opposite the Shai Hills Game Reserve. The cables were allegedly being melted into aluminium bars for export.
Meanwhile, national security operatives have launched a manhunt for another Chinese national who is currently on the run.
The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the missing containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). The containers were reported missing under mysterious circumstances, raising concerns about port security and illegal trading activities.
Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations to determine the full extent of the crime and bring all perpetrators to justice.
