The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially removed former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta from its wanted persons list after receiving a formal notice from his legal team confirming his return to Ghana in May 2025.
This development comes after weeks of speculation regarding Ofori-Atta’s whereabouts, which led the OSP to declare him wanted on February 12, 2025. He had been under investigation for corruption-related offences, but his prolonged absence from the country complicated efforts to advance the case.
However, in a letter dated February 18, 2025, Ofori-Atta’s lawyers assured the OSP that their client remains fully committed to cooperating with the ongoing probe and has scheduled his return for May.

The OSP, deeming the return date reasonable, agreed to reschedule Ofori-Atta’s interview accordingly. Consequently, his name has been removed from the wanted list, and he is no longer considered a fugitive from justice—pending his actual return.
The OSP has, however, issued a strict warning:
- If Ofori-Atta fails to return as promised, he will be relisted as a fugitive and pursued with full legal force.
- Authorities will take all necessary legal actions to ensure his appearance before investigators.
This latest twist marks a temporary relief for the former minister, but all eyes remain on May 2025, when he is expected to face questioning over his role in high-profile financial scandals.
